As providers of student travel, we have both the opportunity and the responsibility to make every student trip, a once in a lifetime experience for its participants. Since the inception of our company, we have advocated industry-wide standards so that the experience of student travel is always the safest and most enriching experience it can be.
As active members of the following leading travel industry organizations, we have taken great strides toward enriching the lives of today's youth as well as protecting and preserving the world's natural resources.
Travel Industry Associations
We are a charter member of the Student and Youth Travel Association which is dedicated to promoting student & youth travel and seeks to foster integrity and professionalism among industry providers. SYTA aims to be "The Voice of Student TravelSM".
Judd Gerber, President of Gerber Tours, was the seventh President of the Board of Directors of SYTA. His unending commitment to SYTA's mission and to the overall growth of young people is further testament to the values which guide everything we do at Gerber Tours.
SYTA Accredited Members: The goal of SYTA's voluntary Accreditation Program is to encourage the highest standards within the student/youth travel community. The organization has outlined a series of objective criteria to which accredited members must adhere. The criteria are higher than industry-standard to highlight those travel companies which provide the best experiences for students.
Criteria for SYTA Accreditation are concerned with the following key areas:
- Company's financial stability
- Proper insurance for customers, vendors and employees of the company
- Soundness of operating procedures
- Overall safety measures for customers, vendors and employees of the company
The National Tour Association is a prestigious travel organization and membership involves maintaining a set of strict requirements including ethical, financial and professional standards resulting in public confidence in its members.
The American Bus Association represents 950 motorcoach operators and tour companies in the United States and Canada. By facilitating the relationships between all the related elements of the travel and supplier industries it achieves its goal of promoting motorcoach travel to the public.
Membership in ASTA's Tour Operator Program symbolizes Gerber Tours Inc., standing as a Blue Chip tour company that has met the stringent membership criteria for TOP. Requirements include possessing a Consumer Protection Plan, Professional Liability policy including Errors and Ommissions coverage, and adherence to a strict Code of Ethics.
Travel Industry Charitable Organizations
The SYTA Youth Foundation commits itself to being the full time advocate for youth assistance and youth participation projects, while educating the general public in the value of student and youth travel related activities. Travel has the direct benefit of shaping the developing citizens of tomorrow.
We are a Founding Member of Tourism Cares for Tomorrow which was formed by the combining of the National Tourism Foundation, (founded by CrossSphere in 1982), and the Travelers Conservation Foundation, (founded in 1999 by the United States Tour Operators Association). The mission of Tourism Cares for Tomorrow is to benefit society by preserving, conserving and promoting the responsible use of our world's natural, cultural and historic treasures and supporting education and research that helps secure the positive future of travel and tourism worldwide.
